Sri Lanka Customs has uncovered an extortion racket where individuals are claiming to conduct rehearsal workshops for candidates preparing for the upcoming recruitment interviews for Assistant Customs Superintendents. Customs officials clarified that no such workshops have been authorized, warning candidates not to fall victim to these schemes.
Customs spokesperson, Additional Director Mr. Sivali Arukgoda, stated that the department has received information about individuals promoting these fake workshops under the guise of helping candidates prepare for interviews. He emphasized that the only criteria considered during the interviews, scheduled for September 27th, 28th, and 29th, will be the candidates’ educational qualifications, physical fitness, and achievements in national or international sports competitions.
“We have seen these so-called workshops advertised on social media, but they are part of an extortion racket,” Arukgoda said. He urged candidates not to participate in any such schemes, as attending these workshops will not affect their interview results in any way.
Sri Lanka Customs stressed that the recruitment process is transparent, and no extra marks or advantages will be given through external preparation.
