Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) National Organizer, MP Tissa Attanayake, has blamed Ranil Wickremesinghe for Sajith Premadasa’s loss in the recent presidential election. According to Attanayake, Wickremesinghe was the “biggest obstacle” to Premadasa securing the presidency, claiming that if it weren’t for Ranil’s interference, Premadasa would have gained an additional 1.3 million votes and won the election.
Attanayake further emphasized that SJB has no intention of forming any political alliances with Wickremesinghe or his United National Party (UNP) in the upcoming parliamentary elections. He equated joining forces with Ranil to aligning with members of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (Pohottuwa) and made it clear that SJB will contest independently in the general elections.
He dismissed recent invitations from the UNP for an alliance, calling it “the same old rhetoric,” and stressed that SJB is not even willing to discuss any potential collaboration between Ranil and Sajith for the elections.
