COLOMBO, Sept. 30, 2024 — The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has officially stated that it will not offer nominations to any individuals who betrayed the party during the recent presidential election for the upcoming general election. This declaration was made by the party’s General Secretary, Sagara Kariyawasam, at a press conference held in Colombo today.
Kariyawasam emphasized that the party has identified a faction that has turned against it, and he firmly stated, “None of those who have betrayed the party will be given high positions or nominations in the party again.” He reiterated the party’s commitment to integrity and unity, asserting that those who have betrayed the SLPP in any manner will not be welcomed back.
The party intends to contest the next general election under the symbol of Pohottuwa across all districts in Sri Lanka. This decision reflects the SLPP’s determination to maintain a cohesive front as they prepare for the electoral battle ahead
