Masatsugu Asakawa, the President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), has extended his congratulations to Sri Lanka’s newly elected President, Anura Kumara Dissanayake. In a message shared by Sri Lanka’s Presidential Media Division, Asakawa expressed his support for Dissanayake’s development programs and acknowledged the peaceful and democratic nature of the election process.
Highlighting the enduring partnership between ADB and Sri Lanka since 1966, Asakawa emphasized ADB’s role in supporting the country’s economic reforms over the years. He further expressed confidence in President Dissanayake’s leadership to stabilize and strengthen Sri Lanka’s economy.
Additionally, the President’s Office hosted a meeting between senior representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the President’s Secretary, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake. The meeting discussed advancing key infrastructure projects, including the Bandaranaike International Airport development and the digitization of Sri Lanka’s television broadcasting systems.
Efforts to accelerate 11 delayed JICA-supported projects in Sri Lanka were also a focal point during recent discussions between Japanese officials and the President’s Secretary.
This message reflects ongoing international cooperation and support as Sri Lanka moves forward with its development agenda.
