The Department of Land Development announced that the ‘Urumaya’ freehold deed program, initiated under the leadership of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, will continue as planned. The program aims to distribute freehold land deeds to citizens who have yet to receive them, offering legal ownership of their lands.
So far, 20,000 freehold deeds have been issued, and an additional 110,000 applications have been received from the public. The Department encourages those who have not yet applied for their freehold deeds to do so, as it remains committed to delivering these legal documents to rightful landowners across Sri Lanka.
The initiative is seen as a continuation of efforts to ensure that citizens gain secure property rights through government assistance.
