Colombo, Sri Lanka – On October 2, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with Cuban Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mr. Andres Marcelo Gonzales Gorrido, to discuss enhancing the longstanding diplomatic relations between the two nations.
During their meeting at the President’s Office, Ambassador Gonzales congratulated Dissanayake on his recent electoral victory and praised his leadership. He emphasized Cuba’s commitment to fostering cooperation, particularly in public health initiatives.
A key focus of the discussion was Cuba’s success in combating dengue fever. The ambassador expressed the Cuban government’s willingness to share its expertise and resources with Sri Lanka to help control and eradicate dengue outbreaks. This support comes as Sri Lanka faces ongoing public health challenges, and collaboration with Cuba could offer valuable insights and strategies for improving health outcomes.
