The National Election Commission has announced that 34 out of the 38 candidates who contested in this year’s presidential election have yet to submit their campaign expense reports. Only four candidates, including Wijedasa Rajapakse and Mahinda Devage, have complied with the requirement.
As per the Election Expenditure Limitation Act, candidates must submit their reports by next Sunday (13th). The commission has warned that failure to do so will result in legal action, even if reports are submitted after the deadline.
