Namal Karunaratne, the National Organizer of the All Ceylon Farmers Federation, has stated that milk prices are expected to rise soon. Karunaratne mentioned that the Federation is committed to ensuring better prices for dairy farmers across the country, which will be discussed with the government in the coming weeks.
He highlighted that the previous government had reduced the price of local milk, which negatively affected dairy farmers. Moving forward, Karunaratne emphasized the importance of doing “maximum justice” for dairy farmers by advocating for fairer pricing that reflects the costs of production and ensures their livelihoods.
This effort comes amid growing concerns about the challenges faced by dairy farmers, including rising production costs and market competition. The potential price increase aims to support local farmers and stabilize the dairy industry in the face of economic difficulties.
