The Importers of Essential Foods Association has reassured the public that there is currently no shortage of essential food items in the country, and food imports are continuing as planned. Despite ongoing military conflicts in certain regions, these issues have not affected the importation of essential goods.
In light of the upcoming Ussava season, the association has committed to maintaining a steady supply of essential food items to prevent any shortages during this festive period.
Recently, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake held a discussion with representatives from the Importers of Essential Foods Association at the President’s Office. During the meeting, the President emphasized the importance of ensuring that essential food imports remain uninterrupted, urging the association to take proactive measures to guarantee an adequate supply throughout the festive season. This initiative aims to support both consumers and local markets during a critical time for food availability.
