Train operations on Sri Lanka’s scenic Upland route will face significant disruption as an Indo-Sri Lankan film project takes over the iconic Nine Arches Bridge from October 9 to 15, 2024. During this period, train services between Colombo Fort and Ella will be limited from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM, halting completely between Ella and Demodara.
The film, set to be shot on the famous Nine Arches Bridge, promises to showcase the bridge’s breathtaking beauty, potentially boosting tourism after its release. The Ministry of Transport has approved the temporary suspension, and the modified train schedule is designed to minimize inconvenience to travelers.
The movie is expected to enhance Sri Lanka’s appeal as a tourist destination, but for now, the picturesque rails will be reserved exclusively for cinematic magic.
