In a recent statement, Mr. Tilvin Silva, the General Secretary of the Janata Vimukti Peramuna (JVP), emphasized that the current government is committed to addressing corruption and catching thieves through legal means, dispelling any notions of political revenge.
Speaking to the media, Silva remarked, “As we move forward under this administration, it is important to recognize that the process of catching wrongdoers will take time. It has only been two weeks since the government took office; we should not expect immediate results.”
He urged those involved in corrupt activities to refrain from labeling the government’s actions as revenge. “When thieves are caught, there should be no tears shed over accusations of vendetta. Justice is being served, and we are merely fulfilling our duty to the public,” he stated.
Silva further clarified his position within the party, asserting that he has no desire to contest in elections or assume government roles. Instead, he is dedicated to fulfilling his responsibilities as the party’s general secretary.
His remarks come amid heightened scrutiny of past administrations and a renewed commitment by the current government to tackle corruption and restore public trust. Silva’s firm stance highlights the JVP’s ongoing efforts to hold accountable those who have misused their power.
