Former Member of Parliament Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thero has decided to step away from politics, choosing not to submit nominations for this year’s parliamentary elections. Having served in the legislature for nearly two decades, Ratana Thero has now moved abroad and announced that he will not participate in any political processes going forward.
The longtime MP indicated that his focus has shifted to pursuing a social mission, which he considers more relevant at this stage. His departure marks the end of a significant political career and a shift towards what he described as broader social work.
