Former MP Hirunika Premachandra has resigned from her position as National Organizer of the Samagi Vanitha Balawegaya, the women’s organization within the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB). Despite stepping down, she remains committed to the party and confirmed her intention to contest in the 2024 General Election.
Premachandra cited frustration over accusations directed at organizers, who were blamed for not fulfilling their responsibilities during the presidential election campaign. She indicated that these internal criticisms significantly influenced her decision to relinquish the role.
Looking ahead, Premachandra expressed optimism about her political future, confident that voters will once again elect her to Parliament in the upcoming election.
