Ajith Mannapperuma, a former Member of Parliament and current Gampaha district candidate, has openly criticized Sajith Premadasa, leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) party. Mannapperuma expressed his disappointment and frustration with Premadasa’s leadership, calling him “dishonest” and accusing him of failing to manage internal party interference effectively.
He revealed that his long-held position as the Gampaha Constituency Organizer was given to a person who had previously criticized both Premadasa and the SJB during the presidential election. Mannapperuma claimed that despite reaching out to Premadasa nearly 40 times to discuss the issue, he received no response.
In a recent interview with an online channel, Mannapperuma said he felt embarrassed at the thought of returning to Parliament under Premadasa’s leadership. His remarks underscore growing tensions within the party ahead of the upcoming general election.
