Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Vijitha Herath has confirmed that there have been no alterations to the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Speaking to the media in Colombo, he emphasized that any modifications to the agreement cannot be made unilaterally.
Herath stated that if changes are necessary, the government will need to enter negotiations with the IMF. He expressed optimism about revisiting certain terms of the agreement that may have placed burdens on the people, indicating a commitment to addressing the concerns of citizens affected by economic measures.
The minister’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions about the economic challenges facing the country and the need for careful management of agreements that impact the nation’s financial stability.
