India’s Tata Company has pledged to donate 50 new ambulances to Suvasarya Ambulance Services, further boosting the fleet of the emergency medical service in Sri Lanka. The announcement was made by Tata Chairman Nataraja Chandrasekaran to Dr. Harsha de Silva, a former parliament member involved in the service’s establishment.
Suvasarya currently operates 297 ambulances, providing medical assistance to approximately 1,050 patients daily. The service initially received a $23 million donation from Tata for the purchase of ambulances, marking the company’s ongoing support. The Sri Lankan government allocates around 400 crore rupees annually to maintain the service.
The new addition of ambulances is expected to enhance emergency medical response across the country, underscoring the continued collaboration between Tata and Sri Lanka’s health sector.
