Lawyer Manoj Nanayakkara, the convener of the Tomorrow organization, has raised concerns about how investigation reports related to the Easter attack ended up in the hands of former MP Udaya Gammanpila. He emphasized that such records are not permitted to be taken home and should only be accessible to authorized officials, calling for an inquiry into how these documents, which were not in the President’s office, reached Gammanpila.
Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo, Nanayakkara expressed confidence in the government’s legal and investigative officials, including Minister Shani Abeysekara and Ravi Seneviratne. He praised Shani Abeysekara, a well-known figure for arresting numerous criminals in the country, despite facing political retaliation and being sidelined from his duties.
Nanayakkara also pointed out that the mastermind behind the attack was being investigated by competent authorities, implying that if political interests try to exploit this sensitive information, it could undermine justice efforts. He stressed that only the court can administer justice in this matter and expressed hope that the current judicial process will ensure a fair search for the truth.
