Former MP Namal Rajapaksa of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna has accused President Anura Dissanayake of intentionally misleading the public on several occasions, stating that these “knowingly told lies” caused significant harm to his political faction. Speaking at a public meeting in Welikanda, Rajapaksa acknowledged that while many of the President’s promises made during the election campaign won him the support of the majority, some have not been fulfilled.
Rajapaksa expressed skepticism about Dissanayake’s ability to deliver on his economic and social pledges, citing the President’s relative inexperience. He noted that although there are instances where promises were knowingly broken, his faction is still observing how the President will manage the country’s development programs.
“We were hit hard by these lies, but they were told with understanding,” Rajapaksa said, adding that he remains watchful of the President’s future actions.
Namal you are accusing AKD of not fulfilling his promises? How long do you think he has been at the helm? How long were you routers in power and did sweet nothing in all these years. You must be in your early stages of dementia.
