Public Security Minister Vijitha Herath confirmed that immediate action was taken based on intelligence, reassuring that Sri Lankan authorities are prioritizing the safety of both locals and foreign visitors. He emphasized that security measures are in place, assuring there’s no need for public alarm.
Israel’s National Security Council issued an urgent advisory for Israelis to leave popular tourist areas in southern Sri Lanka, particularly Arugam Bay, due to heightened threat levels. This alert aligns with recent warnings from the US, Russian, and UK embassies, advising citizens to avoid large gatherings and exercise caution. In response, security has been strengthened across key tourist spots in Sri Lanka.
