Officials from the Customer Service Division carried out inspections at the main rice factories owned by prominent businessman Dudley Sirisena. The inspections were focused on evaluating the available stocks of rice and paddy, as concerns about the supply and stability of rice in the local market persist.
During the inspection, the plant’s senior officers shared details about production capacity and inventory. It was disclosed that the factory is currently processing approximately 200,000 kilos of Keeri Samba and 100,000 kilos of Nadu rice each day. The management assured the officers that the factory is well-stocked, with sufficient rice reserves to cover the next two months.
These inspections are part of broader efforts to ensure transparency in the rice trade, as authorities aim to monitor stock levels and prevent any potential hoarding or artificial shortages that could impact prices and availability for consumers.
