Two suspects have been arrested by the Padaviya police for illegally transporting a significant stock of explosives. The arrests occurred on the evening of October 27th, during a routine inspection of a vehicle in the Padaviya police jurisdiction.
Acting on a tip-off, officers discovered the explosives hidden in the car, which included 75 kilograms of gunpowder, 90 sticks of gelatin, 300 detonators, and five service threads—all transported without the necessary licenses.
The arrested individuals, aged 28 and 30, are residents of the Hidogama and Mapaladikulam areas. The vehicle used in the incident has been seized by the police.
Padaviya Police are currently conducting further investigations into the matter to determine the origin of the explosives and the intended use.
