The Railway Station Masters’ Association (RSMA) has announced a potential strike action set to begin at midnight if their demands are not addressed in a discussion scheduled tomorrow (October 30) with the Minister of Transport. Sumedha Somaratne, President of the association, expressed frustration over today’s unproductive talks with the Railways General Manager.
The association is calling for immediate action to address issues concerning promotions and other long-standing grievances related to the position of Railway Station Master. Somaratne noted that repeated appeals to authorities have yet to yield a satisfactory response, prompting the association’s decision to pursue a trade union action if their concerns remain unmet.
