During a public meeting in Raddolugama, entrepreneur and leader of the Sarvajana Power party, Mr. Dilith Jayaweera, called on citizens to support a bold opposition capable of challenging the existing political system ahead of the upcoming general election.
Jayaweera responded to comments made by Minister Vijitha Herath, who claimed that money had not been “moulded” and suggested that if it had been, it would bear the signature of Anura Kumara. Jayaweera expressed disbelief, noting that Herath has been a member of Parliament for around 25 years and attended Kelaniya University alongside him.
He emphasized that “currency printing” refers not merely to producing physical currency but to increasing the overall money supply, leading to greater liquidity in the economy. Jayaweera stated, “Lanka’s currency has increased liquidity… which means that soon you will have more money to pay for goods. Inflation will increase.”
He urged voters to participate in the upcoming election, asserting, “We created a political campaign for you. It will not hurt you to get up in the morning and vote. For the first time, we are creating a bold opposition. The opposition is there to stand up for you.”
