In a public meeting held today in the Mahara Constituency, entrepreneur and leader Dilith Jayaweera called on citizens to unite under the banner of Sarva Jana Balaya to combat the current political corruption in the country. He criticized the National People’s Power (N.P.P.) and the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (J.V.P.) for their minimal voter support in past elections, describing them as ineffective parties struggling to find leadership.
Jayaweera highlighted the need for a more robust opposition to challenge the status quo, asserting that many existing political entities have failed to adequately represent the interests of the populace. He pointed out the contradictions within the political landscape, referencing the shifting fortunes of candidates like Sajith Premadasa, who he claimed has lost credibility among voters.
He urged citizens to recognize the importance of their participation in the democratic process and to actively seek alternatives to the current political environment. “Join the universal power to free yourself from political corruption. Make bold opposition your choice,” Jayaweera stated, encouraging individuals to take a stand against corruption and advocate for meaningful change in governance.
This rally comes amid growing discontent among the public regarding the government’s handling of various issues, including economic challenges and allegations of corruption. Jayaweera’s call for unity aims to galvanize support for a movement that promises transparency and accountability in leadership, appealing to voters who are frustrated with traditional political parties.
