Mr. Nalinda Jayatissa, a Kalutara district candidate and executive committee member of the National People’s Power, has expressed that he is only accountable for conveying the official stance of his party. He further emphasized that he will only consider opinions from others that align with his personal views.
Jayatissa’s comments came in response to a query raised by Professor Channa Jayasumana, a Gampaha district candidate from the same party, regarding the statement made by National People’s Force’s Colombo district candidate Lakshman Nipunarachchi. Nipunarachchi had suggested the dissolution of trade unions within his party, a statement which prompted the clarification from Jayatissa.
This exchange took place during an interview on Derana TV, where the discussion focused on internal party positions and the influence of trade unions in political activities. Jayatissa made it clear that he is committed to the views expressed by his party, dismissing any conflicting opinions as irrelevant unless they align with his own preferences.
