President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced plans to reduce electricity charges by over 30% in the coming months, along with a decrease in fuel prices. Speaking at a National People’s Power rally in Dambulla, he emphasized the need for patience as the government works toward significant changes in the energy sector.
“In about a year and a half, we will bring about a major transformation in the power sector. The electricity bill will be reduced by more than 30%. Give us a little time for that. We need time to reduce fuel prices. We will accomplish these goals,” President Dissanayake stated.
The President’s promises reflect the government’s focus on lowering the cost of living by addressing energy expenses, a priority for many households and businesses across the country.
