Mr. Dilith Jayaweera, leader of the Sarvajana Balaya party, Gampaha district candidate, and a prominent lawyer and entrepreneur, emphasized the need for a politics free from hatred and anger in Sri Lanka. Speaking at a public meeting in Ambalantota, Jayaweera expressed his concern over the rising tide of division and racism in the country, urging that it be eliminated swiftly.
“We cannot allow racism to take root again in our country, a land that has always upheld values of unity, dharma, and civilization,” Jayaweera stated, warning that any form of racism that appears must be crushed immediately. He emphasized the importance of political leaders moving away from divisive and opportunistic rhetoric, which often pits communities against each other.
Jayaweera also highlighted the negative impact of “purple politics,” which he described as politics driven by opportunistic promises and contradictions, especially in the southern part of the country. He called for a new type of politics—one based on love, unity, and working together for the common good.
“We must work together to eliminate the hatred and anger that have seeped into our political landscape,” he urged, calling on the public and politicians alike to focus on the well-being of the people and stop using divisive tactics for political gain. Jayaweera pointed out that many politicians enter office with the votes of innocent people and yet fail to address the real needs of the public.
The politician reiterated his commitment to bring about a change in the way politics is conducted in Sri Lanka, ensuring that it serves the interests of all people and not just a select few. He concluded by stressing that a united and peaceful future can only be achieved when the politics of division and hatred are eliminated from the country’s political arena.
