Ranjan Ramanayake, leader of the United Democratic Voice Party, has pointed to insufficient time for campaigning as a key reason for his party’s defeat in the 2024 Parliamentary Elections.
Speaking after the results, Ramanayake highlighted the challenges his party faced, noting that the United Democratic Voice Party was officially formed on October 9, 2024. This left them with only 22 days to organize campaign activities and reach voters effectively.
Despite their efforts, the party failed to secure any seats in the election, reflecting the uphill battle they faced as a newly established political entity.
Ramanayake expressed disappointment over the outcome but reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for the issues that matter to the people. He also hinted at plans to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and prepare for future electoral challenges.
The election marked a decisive victory for the National People’s Power (NPP), which achieved a historic majority, leaving smaller and newer parties like Ramanayake’s struggling to gain traction.
