In a groundbreaking decision, all Members of Parliament (MPs) and ministers from the National People’s Force (NPP) have pledged to serve without drawing salaries. This announcement was made by Susanta Kumara, an NPP MP representing the Anuradhapura District, during a press conference.
Kumara emphasized that the agreement to forgo salaries has been unanimously decided upon by all NPP representatives, showcasing their commitment to a governance model centered on public service over personal gain.
“This government will not collapse as the opposition predicts. The people have waited 76 years for true governance, and we are determined to deliver,” he stated, expressing confidence in the stability and vision of the administration under NPP leadership.
This bold move aligns with NPP’s promises of fostering a culture of transparency and accountability in Sri Lanka’s political sphere. It has been praised as a symbolic and practical step toward reducing government expenditure and building public trust.
This is a good work . But there should be a transparency on how these law makers, their families and parents are living without any income even under so much of inflation. There should be a transparency on thus and it should be clarified . otherwise this good intention would be backfired.
