The inaugural cabinet meeting of the new government will take place today (19) at 10 a.m., presided over by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. This meeting is expected to set the tone for the administration’s governance strategy and discuss immediate priorities for the nation.
The newly sworn-in cabinet, comprising 22 ministers, officially assumed their roles yesterday (18) during a ceremony at the Presidential Secretariat. Key portfolios have been allocated to experienced individuals, reflecting the government’s commitment to addressing pressing national issues.
Among the expected topics of discussion at the cabinet meeting are economic recovery measures, public welfare programs, and the roadmap for implementing the government’s election promises.
Additionally, the swearing-in ceremony for the deputy ministers is scheduled for tomorrow (20). Although the exact number of deputy ministers has not yet been finalized, sources indicate that it will be kept to a minimum, aligning with the government’s pledge to streamline governance and reduce unnecessary expenses.
President Dissanayake, in his recent statements, has emphasized the importance of efficiency, transparency, and fiscal responsibility in the new administration. The outcome of this meeting is anticipated to provide insights into the government’s immediate action plan.
