Rev. Battaramulla Seelarathana Thero, the leader of the Janasetha Peramuna, has stated that if the people decide to shift their support away from the current National People’s Power (NPP) government, his party will be the next to take charge. He made these remarks during a press conference where he expressed confidence in his party’s future role in Sri Lankan politics.
Rev. Seelarathana Thero emphasized that the Janasetha Peramuna stands as a distinct alternative, unassociated with corruption, theft, or violence. “Our party does not represent thieves, fraudsters, or murderers,” he declared, positioning the Janasetha Peramuna as a clean and people-centered political force.
The Thero also criticized established political figures, claiming to have witnessed the public rejecting those who claim to be the country’s mature leaders. He argued that the electorate is tired of traditional politics and seeks new, principled leadership.
In his address, Rev. Seelarathana Thero highlighted his belief that if dissatisfaction with the current NPP government grows, the people will entrust his party with power, marking a shift towards a fresh political era.
