Minister Samantha Vidyarathna has expressed confidence in the success of the National People’s Power (NPP) government, emphasizing that the country is being governed effectively, with the people looking forward to future development. Speaking to journalists after participating in a public event, the minister highlighted the noticeable shift in public sentiment and the diminishing criticisms from the opposition.
He pointed out that during the previous elections, the opposition frequently accused the NPP of lacking the experience and capability to govern. They predicted that the government would fail, collapse, and bring chaos. However, Minister Vidyarathna argued that those claims have now lost credibility, as the NPP has demonstrated its ability to lead the country efficiently and maintain stability. According to him, the opposition’s narrative is no longer valid, as the government is proving its competence through tangible progress.
Minister Vidyarathna also addressed the accusations made during the presidential election campaign, where critics claimed that an NPP government would disrupt peace in the country. Contrary to those claims, he stated that the government has not only preserved peace but has also made efforts to extend it to those who were previously marginalized. He highlighted that individuals who have faced injustices are now being given the opportunity to seek redress through formal applications. Rather than cutting peace, he emphasized that the government is working to expand it, ensuring that more people benefit from social harmony and justice.
In response to concerns that religious harmony might deteriorate under the NPP’s leadership, Minister Vidyarathna stated that religion is thriving across the country. He stressed that there have been no religious conflicts, and people are freely practicing their faiths without interference. Religious institutions continue to operate smoothly, and communities are coexisting peacefully.
Minister Vidyarathna further highlighted the overall peaceful and democratic environment in the country. He noted that citizens are living without fear or anxiety, enjoying a sense of security and stability. Unlike in the past, there is no undue political interference, and governance is being conducted transparently and efficiently. The minister expressed satisfaction with the current state of the country, describing it as progressing beautifully and steadily.
He concluded by reiterating that the predictions made by the opposition have proven false, and the government remains committed to steering Sri Lanka toward prosperity. The NPP, he affirmed, will continue to prioritize the well-being of the people and the development of the nation, ensuring a brighter future for all citizens.
