In a significant reshuffle of Sri Lanka’s police hierarchy, several senior officers, including Deputy Inspector Generals and Senior Superintendents of Police, have been transferred with immediate effect.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) E.M.M.S. Dehideniya, who previously headed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been reassigned to the Nugegoda Police Division. SSP H.W.I.S. Muthumala has been appointed as the new Director of CID, taking over the leadership of one of the country’s most critical investigative bodies.
The National Police Commission, which oversees police appointments and transfers, approved the changes, citing operational requirements and administrative needs as the driving factors behind the decision.
Further details and the full list of transfers are expected to be officially released, outlining the new positions and responsibilities of other high-ranking officers impacted by the reshuffle.
