Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna’s (SLPP) Jaffna District Organizer, Keethanath Kasilingam, was summoned to the Manippai Police Station on Wednesday following an investigation into an illegal human trafficking case. The complaint, which was lodged against a party member, alleges that the individual used the name of SLPP’s National Organizer, Namal Rajapaksa, to deceive a victim.
According to the complaint, the suspect claimed to have connections with Namal Rajapaksa and demanded millions of rupees in exchange for facilitating the victim’s safe passage to a European country. The victim reportedly paid a sum, believing that the arrangement was legitimate.
Keethanath Kasilingam, who cooperated with the authorities during the investigation, expressed concern over the misuse of Namal Rajapaksa’s name in the crime. He strongly condemned the actions of the suspect and stated that if found guilty, the individual would be expelled from the party to maintain the integrity of the SLPP. The investigation into the matter is ongoing, and authorities are working to bring those responsible to justice.
