Agriculture Minister K.D. Lal Kantha has made a bold statement, warning of the potential for a public backlash, or “tsunami,” against the public service. Speaking at a recent event, the Minister noted that just as politicians were ousted by a wave of public dissatisfaction in the last election, a similar uprising could target inefficiencies and grievances within the public service.
Minister Lal Kantha revealed that his ministry has been inundated with complaints from citizens frustrated by the conduct and inefficiency of public servants. He suggested that the growing dissatisfaction among the public could evolve into a movement to demand accountability and reform in the sector.
“I have the ability to create a political tsunami against the public service if necessary,” he declared, emphasizing that public sentiment could become a powerful force for change. However, he added, “I do not think it is time for such measures yet,” signaling his preference for addressing the issues through dialogue and gradual reforms rather than immediate drastic actions.
The Minister’s remarks highlight the mounting pressure on public institutions to improve their performance and regain public trust. His call to action serves as both a warning and a potential opportunity for reform, as the government faces increasing scrutiny from its citizens.
