In a stark display of unbecoming behavior, former Cabinet Minister Harin Fernando was recently captured on video embroiled in a brawl at a prominent sports club in Colombo. Eyewitnesses report that Fernando, who appears to have been heavily intoxicated, unleashed a torrent of abusive language, ranting and shouting obscenities that left onlookers stunned.
According to sources, the altercation began when Fernando insisted on singing with the band in attendance. After being refused permission, reportedly due to his inebriated state, he became increasingly agitated, hurling verbal abuse at club members and staff. Despite attempts to calm him down, Fernando continued his tirade, at which point several individuals, including his own personal security, forcibly ushered him off the premises.
Footage of this incident, which has gone viral on social media, shows the former minister, once influential in both the Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Ranil Wickremesinghe governments threatening to return even as he is being removed. Some speculate that he may be suffering from post-election defeat trauma, fueling his outburst and disruptive conduct.
Those present at the club jeered as Fernando was escorted out, expressing their disappointment and frustration.
The incident has sparked widespread criticism, with many calling for accountability from public figures who hold or once held positions of power.
Not surprised as he hails from a family of drunkards. Coming down from his grandfather all exhibited this kind of behavior.
This is Boniface Fernando’s grandson. He was the pioneer in drug dealing in this country . He organized his opium business from his house Samara in Wattala.
Should be arrested and sent to jail. By the way from where did he get the security.
