A tense situation unfolded at a key ministry meeting held last Friday (27th) to discuss strategies for boosting dollar earnings in the new year. The meeting, attended by approximately 20 senior ministry officials and presided over by the Deputy Minister, took a dramatic turn following the late arrival of the Minister’s Private Secretary.
The meeting began in the absence of the Minister, with the Deputy Minister initiating discussions on plans to enhance revenue-generation measures. However, midway through the session, the Private Secretary entered abruptly, reportedly frustrated over a lack of parking facilities for his vehicle.
In an outburst, the Secretary chastised the gathered officials, stating, “We came to this country to work with high salaries… We need to provide facilities for that,” disrupting the otherwise focused discussions. His comments left attendees stunned, as the meeting was intended to address critical development goals for the coming year.
Adding to the commotion, the Deputy Minister seemingly supported the Secretary’s grievances, expressing his own frustrations with ministry arrangements. He reportedly added, “Don’t take me for a joke… You block the vehicles of the officials and hit their vehicles… I will get up from here at seven o’clock tonight.”
An argument reportedly ensued between the Private Secretary and a security officer, during which heated words were exchanged. Witnesses claimed the security officer defended his position while the Secretary attempted to assert his authority, further escalating the situation.
