Venerable Wanawasi Rahula Thero, founder of Namal Uyana, has voiced concerns about the current administration, stating that while President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has the will to enact meaningful change for the nation, his team is not equipped to support his vision effectively.
Speaking directly to Deputy Minister of Labor Mahinda Jayasinghe during a recent discussion, the Thero did not shy away from critiquing the government. “It is evident that the President genuinely wants to achieve something significant for the country, but the team surrounding him lacks the capacity to realize those aspirations,” he remarked.
The Thero also emphasized the importance of learning from the past, pointing out that some initiatives undertaken by previous governments had positively impacted the country and should not be discarded. “There were policies and projects by past administrations that were beneficial. These should be continued and built upon in the future,” he added.
The comments come at a time when the government faces mounting public dissatisfaction over its perceived inefficiency and inability to address pressing national issues. Rahula Thero’s remarks have sparked discussions about the effectiveness of the President’s leadership team and the broader challenges facing the administration.
