Chief Organizing Minister Nalinda Jayatissa addressed Parliament today, refuting claims that seven lakh rupees were spent on the inauguration of the Clean Sri Lanka project. He clarified that the approved budget for the event was nine lakh rupees, and even this amount has not yet been paid.
Jayatissa explained that Chamara Sampath Dassanayake presented a quotation document in Parliament outlining bid invitations for the event. However, the government chose not to accept these bids due to their high cost. He emphasized that the government strictly adhered to the nine-lakh-rupee limit and did not exceed the allocated budget.
The minister’s statement sought to dispel concerns regarding alleged overspending on the project’s launch and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to financial accountability.
