The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has clarified that no permission has been granted for telecommunications service providers to increase data package prices.
Addressing reports circulating on social media, TRCSL Director Indrajith Handapangoda emphasized that the Commission has not authorized any price hikes.
Following these reports, the TRCSL promptly contacted all telecommunications providers, who have since confirmed in writing that their data package prices remain unchanged.
Director Handapangoda urged the public not to be misled by false information and assured that the TRCSL is taking legal action against those responsible for spreading such misleading news.
He also called on consumers to report any evidence of unauthorized price increases directly to the Commission, stating that such actions violate TRCSL regulations and would result in strict enforcement of penalties.
The TRCSL has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting consumers and ensuring fair practices in the telecommunications sector.
