(COLOMBO) – At least 17 high grade students needed medical assistance following a brawl between groups from different schools at a cadet training centre in north-central Sri Lanka, police said on Friday.
They said the brawl had erupted after a prank on a school girl that led to a heated argument and finally to a brawl.
None of the students sustained serious injuries and were treated for cuts and bruises.
The police blamed the authorities at the Rantambe National Cadet Training Centre for failing to take quick action in preventing the brawl.
The situation was brought under control with the arrival of the police on the scene who were alerted by the centre’s authorities.
