Jathika Jana Balawegaya Kurunegala District MP Dharmapriya Dissanayake stated that an agreement has been reached to provide modern vehicles to all Members of Parliament, highlighting the essential nature of vehicles for MPs to perform their duties effectively.
He noted that the type of vehicle to be provided is still under discussion, but he emphasized that modern vehicles are necessary, as many of the vehicles currently held in reserve are not in usable condition.
MP Dissanayake explained that many of the old vehicles in government reserves have been dismantled or require extensive repairs, making them impractical and costly to restore. He pointed out that repairing these vehicles would incur significant expenses, which justifies the decision to supply modern vehicles instead.
Speaking to the media after an inspection tour of the Kurunegala Machinery Superintendent’s office, MP Dissanayake reiterated the importance of ensuring that MPs have reliable transportation to fulfill their responsibilities, signaling the necessity of modernizing their vehicle fleet.
