The House Committee of Parliament has announced a revision of meal prices for Members of Parliament (MPs), with the new rates set to take effect from February 1st.
Deputy Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Gamagedara Dissanayake, revealed the changes during today’s (January 23) session.
As per the updated prices:
- Breakfast in the Parliament dining hall will cost Rs. 600.
- Lunch has been raised to Rs. 1,200.
- A cup of tea will now be priced at Rs. 200.
The total daily amount charged to MPs for food in Parliament has increased to Rs. 2,000. This adjustment reflects the revised rates for meals served in Parliament.
These new prices mark a significant shift in the cost of dining for MPs and are set to be implemented at the start of next month.
