Attorney-at-law Manoj Gamage has claimed that there are indications of preparations to arrest Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa within the next two weeks.
Speaking to the media after appearing in court to represent Yoshitha Rajapaksa, Gamage alleged that the government fears Namal Rajapaksa’s potential to become President in 2029 and is attempting to preemptively imprison him.
He further stated that the current administration is struggling to govern effectively and has developed what he described as a “Rajapaksa phobia,” leading to a targeted campaign against the Rajapaksa family.
The statement has sparked speculation about political motivations behind legal actions against members of the Rajapaksa family, who remain influential figures in Sri Lankan politics. There has been no official confirmation or statement from the government regarding these claims.
