An outstanding project was recently launched at the Duncan White Auditorium on the 28th of January, bringing together key figures in Sri Lankan sports. The Vision 2036 Initiative and its pool of Sri Lanka’s best athletes named the “Lion Warriors” is spearheaded by national record holder and fitness industry pioneer Mr. Talavou Alailima, alongside a panel of some of the greatest names in Sri Lankan sports and sports administration. This program is able and ready to build a total of 620 national athletes win 10 medals at the 2036 Olympic games, focused on showing up with top guns alongside India’s bid to host the game that very year.
The program has also received significant backing from top Sri Lankan companies, including Bairaha, German Bakery, Gordone, Hameedia, Brandix, Power World, Edge Nutrition, SportUnleash, FHA Holdings, and Emjay International. Vision 2036 is also backed by Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Sports, helping to play a key role in endorsing and facilitating the initiative.
With an elite team of experts leading the way, Vision 2036 is a strategic shift in Sri Lanka’s approach to sports, integrating scientific training, elite coaching, sports psychology, and international exposure to develop world-class athletes. This program is not just about medals but about reshaping the country’s sporting identity, proving that with the right infrastructure and expertise, Sri Lanka can compete among the world’s best.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Talavou Alailima emphasized the transformative nature of this initiative. “Sri Lanka has no short of world-class talent, but the athletes require a focused development of their physical attributes supported by world-class structures at its foundation. We are committed and determined to set the stage for our athletes to succeed, ensuring that Sri Lanka becomes a formidable force on the international arena on its way to the 2036 Olympic Games”
As the Lion Warrior Program gains momentum, it is clear that Sri Lanka’s journey to Olympic glory has begun. With the right resources and determination, Vision 2036 is set to change the face of Sri Lankan sports forever.
