Dr. Ruwan Wijemuni has stepped down from his role as Chairman of the National Transport Medical Institute (NTMI), citing personal reasons for his resignation. His departure marks the fifth resignation of a chairman appointed under the current government.
Dr. Wijemuni, who was initially appointed by former Transport Minister Vijitha Herath, had held the position for several weeks before tendering his resignation. Following his exit, the current Minister in charge of transport, Bimal Ratnayake, appointed Ms. Arosha Vidyabhushana as the new Chairman of NTMI.
This resignation comes in the wake of several other high-profile exits from state institutions, adding to ongoing discussions about stability within key government bodies.
