A hit man on the payroll of a wanted Sri Lankan underworld figure was arrested at Sri Lanka’s main international airport on Wednesday morning, police said.
They said that Roshan Chathushka was picked up from the Bandaranayke International Airport (BIA) shortly after arriving into the country on a scheduled flight from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
It is learnt that the suspect was deported from the UAE for visa violations.
The suspect is a person of interest in investigations to several murders and other criminal activities, according to police.
Dozens of Sri Lankan criminals mainly drug traffickers to murderers are known to have taken up a safe haven in the desert emirate owing to relaxed visa regulations in that country.
