Colombo, Feb 5 – The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) experienced a dramatic decline today, with the All Share Price Index (ASPI) plunging by 500.39 points, marking the steepest single-day drop in its history. By the end of trading, the ASPI stood at 16,456.10 points.
The S&P SL20 index, which tracks the top 20 blue-chip stocks, also saw a sharp decline, losing 167.18 points to settle at 4,898.04 points.
Despite the crash, the day’s turnover reached 6.3 billion rupees, indicating active market participation amid the turmoil.
