Minister Nalinda Jayatissa has called for an investigation into the compensation received by MPs and ministers whose properties were damaged during the Gall Face struggle. He emphasized that the amounts paid should be cross-checked against the asset and liability declarations previously submitted by these politicians.
Speaking at a media briefing in Kandy, Jayatissa also urged insurance companies to disclose whether these high-value properties were insured before the incidents. He stated that any discrepancies in compensation claims, asset declarations, or insurance coverage should be formally reported to the Bribery Commission for further investigation.
His remarks come amid growing public scrutiny over how compensation funds were allocated, with concerns that some politicians may have exaggerated their losses to secure higher payouts.
