President Anura Kumara Dissanayake arrived in Dubai this afternoon to participate in the World Government Summit (WGS) 2025, which will take place from February 11 to 13 in the United Arab Emirates.
Upon arrival at Dubai International Airport, the President and his delegation were welcomed by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Seyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the UAE, along with other state representatives. Also present at the reception were Acting Ambassador to the UAE Taxila Arnolda, Sri Lankan Consul General for Dubai and the Northern Emirates Alexi Gunasekara, and representatives from the Sri Lankan Embassy in Dubai.
As part of his itinerary, President Dissanayake is set to meet Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, CEO of Master Investment Group and nephew of the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah. The discussion will focus on enhancing economic and investment cooperation between Sri Lanka and the UAE, strengthening ties between the two nations.
Later in the evening, the President is scheduled to attend the TIME 100 Gala Dinner at the renowned Museum of the Future in Dubai, an event that brings together influential leaders from various fields.
Accompanying the President on this visit is Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Vijitha Herath, reflecting the importance of Sri Lanka’s participation in this global summit and the potential for international collaborations.
